Dear Band/Guard Members and Parents:

Yes, it’s that time of the year...2007-2008 calendar sales.   In order to keep our band fees from skyrocketing to the point that they would be impossible for many parents to afford, and to allow our band students (and future band students) to experience the joy and recognition of competing in the national arena, we really do need everyone’s help and support in all the fundraising efforts, and not just those that benefit us individually via credits to our accounts.  We have four major fundraising efforts:  Dragons’ games, UD games, Flower sales, and the Calendar sales.  There are many smaller ones, but they are all vitally important: Invitational, car washes, Euchre Night, Scrip, souvenirs, etc.  With that being said, I’m hoping that we can have a positive outlook on all of our fundraising endeavors.

On with the calendars...there’s something new this year to hopefully get you motivated about selling calendars.  Here are the three options for calendar sales:

1)                 Take orders now.  Pre-sale orders mean more profit for the band because many people add birth dates and anniversaries to their order.  New this year:  For any additional calendars sold over 10, 50% of those sales will be credited directly to your account.  This excludes birth dates and anniversaries sold.  What does this mean?  If you sell 15 calendars, you have 5 over your mandatory 10.  Therefore, you’ll receive a $17.50 credit to your account!!  How sweet is that?   OR,

2)                 Wait to sell your 10 calendars out of hand. If you do not turn in a pre-sale order, you will receive 10 calendars and an invoice for $70.  This is not the best option.  We won’t make money on birthday/anniversary ads and it will be harder to sell your calendars.   OR,

3)                 If you prefer to receive less than 10 calendars or none at all, please let me know.  You will receive only that amount, but you are still responsible to pay the $70.00.  Fewer calendars will need to be printed, meaning less printing costs, and less extra calendars floating around.  Selling things is always work.  There is no way out of that, but if you plan ahead, we, as an organization, and you will benefit greatly.

EASY STEPS FOR SELLING CALENDARS:

1)                 Borrow your calendar from home (extra 2006-2007 calendars will be available in the band room) and use it as a sample when you take your order forms to your neighbor’s house.

2)                 Encourage customers to list birthday and anniversary dates at $1 per listing.  This money is pure profit for the band!

3)                 Calendars cost $7 each and we’re hoping to receive our calendars from the printer the week before band camp.  Please deliver the calendars ASAP.  It is STRONGLY suggested that orders be pre-paid.  You may accept checks or cash, but checks should be made out to your parent.  For easier bookkeeping, I would really appreciate it if you would just send one check to me for all of your orders.  Checks should be made payable to Bellbrook Music Boosters.  Your payment is not due until September 5, 2007.  Remember that date.  It’s important!

4)                 If you know any graduating seniors, get a head start and ask for their old order forms.

5)                 Send your completed order form by June 4th in the enclosed self addressed envelope.
